Studying... It's Not Just a Habit

Every student has some sort of study habit: they make notecards, they read over the book, or they just don’t do anything. The student just does these certain things without even thinking about it, or rather, not thinking they shouldn’t do it because they simply have good study habits. But, it’s not just a study habit. Study habits are a body practice that is ingrained into people, starting at a very young age. However, it doesn’t occur by anyone lecturing them or telling them that they need to develop a better study habit to eventually become an ingrained body practice. It happens when some parents expect their child to exceed in school and want them to get really high grades. When a child’s parents push their child to achieve the highest grade they can get, this pressures the child to have to do better in class. Then, to achieve this success, a child slowly learns study habits that help achieve these good grades, which eventually just turns into a body practice because they do it so much that it just becomes natural. So, they are swayed to develop these body practices through self-teaching. Along with this, parents whose children have good study habits raise them to have characteristics such as drive and motivation that are a driving force behind studying and good study habits. There isn’t one specific thing to bring out these traits in a child, but encouraging them to do things like stay away from the TV and to be active are good examples of this. This is a docile body practice: throughout their childhood, kids develop these habits without noticing until they form into the intelligible body of a person with amazing study skills and characteristics to go along with that.

  1. Being a student, these habits are not only evident but vital to success in school. By learning and refining studying and learning habits, the child gains the skills that are needed to succeed in education. Great job.
