Everyone has a Facebook page. When I say everyone I mean EVERYONE. Facebook is a social media website that literally has hundreds of millions of users on it every day. You can do everything from talk to friends to post videos to advertise on Facebook (but I probably didn't need to tell you that). It is common practice for most people with a page to check it multiple times a day, making this site oppertune for advertisers. Facebook along with Google essentially sells the information you put on your page to advertisers, who then take that information to try and market products to you. To many teenagers and adults alike this is none of their concern, but to many other users this is a big violation of trust. Many times the rhetoric of Facebook and the sheer number of users will put a veil of sorts over your eyes to a point where you start to think that it is okay that a website has access to all sorts of private information.
I know what you mean, sometimes I find myself checking facebook without even thinking about it. I have become so trained to go onto it, that it is a part of me and my culture as a body practice.

ReplyDeleteI used to have Facebook pinned as one of the permanently open tabs on my computer, I was just that addicted to it. It definitely is worthy of calling it a body practice. Still now, even with Google+ and Twitter and other sites to check I keep opening up Facebook to see what's going on. Somewhat along the lines of how often I look at my phone.
