rolled up cuffs

It's come to my attention in the last few months or so that a great number of people, especially around campus, engage in the body practice of rolling up the legs on their jeans. This seems like quite a utilitarian body practice if it looked at critically. While it may at first seem common mostly amongst 'hipsters' I've found that the practice is representational of a number of other people as well. The trend seems to be much more common during the fall, when the weather allows for people to bike around campus, and this is where the practice has obvious merits. Quite simply, people roll up the legs on their jeans to keep them from getting caught in the gears of their bikes.
At the same time the people who practice this are docile bodies who are actively engaging in physical activities to improve and change even when other options are available (IE: bus, car, etc.)
Altogether it has become praxis to roll up your jeans when biking or just in general (although it's more common amongst those who ride bikes), and I've found myself adhering to trend (exclusively when riding my bike, however), because of the obvious merits it carries. The practice is not a pursuit without terminus, that has no goal but is quite definable by it's goals for those who often ride bikes, especially as the practice of bike-riding becomes more and more common.
