An example that I find in a “Romantic in Action” scene is a clip from the movie “Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)” with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. This ten minutes short clip display both a dynamic and vibrant actions of gun shootings and intense fighting ending with an erotic and passionate love making scene. From this example, I want to discuss how these contrast from each other but at the same time, it offers viewers a more desirable and sensual tasteful feelings. In this clip, it started out with Mr. Smith, Brad Pitt, surreptitiously entering the house avoiding from his wife, Mrs. Smith or Angelina Jolie. With fears and cautiousness sneaking around to find each other, they both carried deadly weapons ready to kill. The scene then turns into vicious shootings and breaking everything in their house. This part of the scene was a “romantic in action” because as they desperately wanting to kill each other, they both showed concerns and use loveable words with each other. An example of this was when Angelina shot through the wall aiming at Brad and with concern, she asked him “you still alive, baby?” Towards the end of the fighting scene when they both where hand in hand combat, the producer made the fight scene romantic because it displays them laying on the floor with Angelina’s full naked thigh wrapped around Brad’s waste when Brad was trying to hit her. Another romantic display that was portraying in this scene was when Brad lifts her and pressed her against the wall with his hip lean towards her pelvis. The turning point of this clip was when at the end of the fighting scene, Brad forcefully and quickly grab Angelina and started to make love to her. This end clip became the romantic part of the whole scene because clothes were being ripped off and more skins were being shown as they threw each other around passionately kissing each other and making love with each other.
I agree with this post completely. Mr and Mrs Smith really pissed me off for how cheesy it was.
